RIKON has designed their 10-325 14-Inch band saw to give you options for cutting both wood and other materials.  With a large, cast iron work surface, very smooth ball-bearing blade guides, and a powerful two speed 1-1/2-horsepower motor, the 10-325 could easily be at home in any type of shop.  Equipped with other features such as a quick release blade tension, large dust ports, and viewing windows to help with control over your cuts, users would be hard-pressed to find another band saw that offers this much in quality.

        Best Features

One of the best features of this RIKON model is its re-saw capabilities.  With such precision designed in this model, users can create veneers that are perfect with each pass.   Another great feature is the 1-1/2-horsepower motor that has two speeds.  Users can easily change from 1,445 feet/minute, used for precision cutting, to 2,950 feet/minute.

Just in case you didn’t know, that’s over half a mile.  The large polished 16-inch by 21-1/2-inch cutting table provides plenty of stable work area and can tilt for beveled cuts and also includes a heavy-duty rip fence.

The 115-volt motor eliminates any need to switch to 220-volt in your shop.  It is built with an extremely sturdy steel frame which helps to maintain accuracy and reduce vibration.  The blade guides, double barring, also help with accuracy and stability while at the same time helping to extend the life of the blade.

The quick-release lever releases blade tension in a snap and helps to make changing blades fast and simple.  The included heavy-duty rip fence has an integral inch scale to help with precision cuts and the re-sawing pivot guide helps to ensure uniform cuts when cutting veneers.

One disadvantage of this saw is really not with the saw at all, but with the manual however.  The instructions listed in the manual are vague and do not go into detail about any particular process in assembling this saw.  Furthermore, the bolt and parts descriptions don’t always match up with what is in the box when you get it.

Another reported problem with the 10-325 is the fence, more accurately, the mechanism that secures and squares the fence to the table.  Reports indicate the lever used to lockdown the fence is cheaply made and does not secure tightly.  Additionally, the milling on the fence face leaves a lot to be desired.  These may be minor setbacks but with a band saw as nice as the 10-325, one would expect better quality in publications and a top notch fence to go with a top notch saw.

        Best Suited For

If you’re a professional woodworker, this saw packs plenty of power and has nearly all the features you would expect to find on larger sized saws.  For the beginner, the RIKON 10-325 is a great band saw to start learning on and is fairly simple to set-up, even if you are not overly experienced with band saws.

Additionally, you get a great deal of quality for a fairly low price.  Starting at around $800.00, this is a great option for adding quality to your shop without breaking your bank account.  So, the RIKON 10-325 is equally suited for both the beginner and the seasoned veteran alike.
